Dal Ja's Spring-Chae Rim

Hubby and me have been hooked to this funny and lighthearted Korean drama by Chae Rim recently. I have always enjoyed watching Chae Rim's drama as she is one of my favourite Korean actresses and she was very cute in her portraying "Dalja". I bought the DVD set from Blue Max for only $15 (total of 16 episodes). This story is quite similar to "My Lovely Sam Soon" and focuses on the story of Dalja, a 33-year old single at a crossroad of whether to remain single or get married before she gets older. The drama aims to comically and candidly portray the reality and undying pursuit of romance of a thirty something single woman.

The love triangle of Dalja, Taebong and Gijoong brews conflicts over love versus marriage. Taebong, a hunk six years younger than Dalja, works as substitute dates and becomes Dalja’s fake boyfriend. Gijoong is the type who dreams of an ideal and rational courtship. The drama also highlights the life and work of women in their thirties through Dalja who is a producer at a home shopping channel.
Character Info:
Chae Rim
Oh Dalja is a 33-year-old promising home shopping channel producer. She owns a house and a car thanks to a career driven life. She’s interested in men but is a disaster on real dates. She's a professional in work but a novice in love. She begins a dreamy love affair with flirtatious coworker Shin Sedo but is enraged to find out about his infidelity. She hires a boyfriend by contract, Taebong, to seek revenge on Sedo. One funny thing about this character is she is always at a lost when dealing with her own love affairs and constantly seeking advices from her friends. However, she is able to give advices to people around her when they faces the same problems.
Lee Min-gi
Kang Tae-bong is a 27-year-old freelancer for a proxy dating agency. He begins to pretend as Dalja's boyfriend. It takes people time to discover his warm heart due to his outspoken character. He used to be a lawyer and quits after he indirectly caused the death of a client. He is very secretive about his past and dreams of becoming a great chef and opening his own restaurant. He soon develops feelings for Dalja after getting to know her.
Lee Hyeon-woo
Yeom Gi-joong is a 36-year-old prospering businessman who heads an importing firm of foreign brand goods. He is polite and humble with reputable character. But he's very possessive and hates to lose. He asks Dalja to start a relationship with him as he thought she would be comfortable and not have high expectations on love. He is aghast at her elementary dating experience but grows attracted to her more and more. It was very comical seeing his ex-wife pestering Dalja and coming up with all kinds of strange tactics as she still has feelings for her ex-husband.
Lee Hye-young
Wi Seon-joo is a 33-year-old home shopping network show host. A former hot model, she disappeared from the public eye when she married at 29. She returns three years later as a divorcee. The talented show host, who can be fussy and particular, gets on Dalja's nerves. She is a dating genius who knows all dating rules there are and what not. Her skills shine in making Shin Sedo as her man. Her character was quite similar to Dalja and they end up supporting each other when one faces problems at work or in their loves life.
So for those who have some time to spared and are looking for a nice drama, can consider this drama, definitely entertaining!

Tips on Keeping your place cluttered free

I found some useful tips from this week's Urban on how to keep your place cluttered free and would share some of it here. Hopefully the tips would be useful for friends who are spring cleaning their places for Chinese New Year like me. Happy packing :>

  • When spring cleaning your closet, start by colour coordinating your clothes or sorting them into dresses, tops and bottoms. Keep clothes you rarely wear at the back of the wardrobe and your oft-worn ones in front. If you are starved for space, invest in a space saving hangar that can hang for eg. 4 skirts on one frame.

  • Take out your shopping as soon as you get home. Then fold down the paper bags and store them out of sight. (one tends to just leave it aside when you don't pack up immediately. I'm one good example hehe i have a tendancy to just leave all my shopping bags on the table or chair and would sometimes be too lazy to unpack. I would only start unpacking after a few days or when my hubby starts nagging me. Am trying to kick the bad habit ;>)

  • A space saving solution is over the door storage for handbags. It gives you easy access to them, and you can hang them either on the inside of the door or outside. If you have nice totes, they could even serve as decorative wall features. (I used to leave some of my bags on the chair in my study room as it was easy to just grab and go but the bags soon start piling up and it was very messy. I only managed to pack everything into my closet this week after purchasing a plastic box to store them. At least now i can sit on my chair and read :>)

  • Get a shoe rack that grows with your needs, like those that allows you to extend shelf lengths or be stacked one on top of another.

  • Ensure that bills are filed away after they have been paid, newspapers are recycled every weekend, cushions are put back on the sofa and books are returned to shelves after use. It's easier to maintain a neat room than to clean up a messy one.

Busy Week-Chinatown n Star grazing

Have been busy cleaning my house the past week and throwing away clothes that i seldom wear and other stuffs. The final outcome of my neat wardrobe really makes all the hard work worth it hehe although i wonder how long the neatness would last :> Would be cleaning my bookshelves and barbie dolls furnitures this week, can take the chance to burn off more fat haha...

I also went Chinatown on Saturday with my mum, aunt and cousin. It is a yearly tradition for us to go there to buy New Year goodies and Bak Kwa there but we did not manage to shop alot as it started raining awhile after we got there and we end up going to Causeway Point instead for dinner. I managed to see my favorite TVB actors and actresses while there and took photos of my favourite actress Myolie Wu and actor Bobby Au-Yeung.

My mum and aunt busy shopping for sweets

Although it was going to rain, there was still alot of people shopping at Chinatown

Factory Outlets at Anchorpoint Shopping Mall

I went Ikea Alexandra yesterday with my mum to buy additional bookshelf to store my growing barbie dolls collections. We also went to Anchorpoint Shopping Mall opposite Ikea as i had read previously in 8-Days that Charles & Keith, Giordano, Pedro and G2000 have factory outlets there. They sell old stocks 20 to 70% cheaper than when the stocks were in season. I have gone Ikea on numerous occasions but have never ventured to Anchorpoint as it appears to be quite boring and i was too lazy to walk over.

Imagine our surprise when we saw so many outlets there and the prices of things were really cheap. I saw 2 pairs of shoes at Charles & Keith selling for only $19.90 each. I remember seeing them selling for more than $30 each few months ago. Too bad the shop does not have my shoe size. I noticed that though the prices at the factory outlets are super cheap, there is limitation of sizes. I saw long sleeves shirt at G2000 selling for only $23/- instead of the normal more than $50. But i also could not find my husband's size and end up buying only a polo tee from Giordano for him. I got it for only $14.50 after 50% discount. I also saw G2000 selling long black pants for only $29/- each. For those wanting to have a change of office outfits and with limited budgets, you can consider going to Anchorpoint :> maybe you would have better luck than me... Would definitely drop by there next time i go Ikea again.

Cristiano Ronaldo Scored Hat trick :>

Its 3.20am, just finished watching the match between Manchester United Vs Newcastle. It was quite a painful match to watch seeing Newcastle struggling against Manchester although i was rooting for Manchester. Newcastle's defense was super lousy and they were having difficulty holding possession of the ball. It has been a long time since i watched Newcastle's match and i was surprised by their performance. My poor brother must be super pissed coz he is a big fan of Newcastle hehe but i'm real happy that my favourite player Ronaldo scored his first hat trick :> Real glad i did not skip this match. Going to bed now so sleepy yawn....

Qiong Yao-Dreams Link

I spent about 3 days watching this drama and it has been a long time since i last watched a Qiong Yao drama. Some of my friends couldn't believe that i would actually want to watch Qiong Yao's drama when i shown them the dvd set as it is known for its weepy scenes but i realise that i'm also a sucker for such show hehe... I used to enjoy watching dramas based on Qiong Yao's novels when i was a kid. Almost forgotten the enjoyment ;>

Back to this drama, it is a remake of the popular Qiong Yao story 一帘幽梦 and i can't recall whether i had watched the old version but i really like this current version. Most of the filming took place in Shanghai, China. Some of the scenes were also shot on location in Paris, France. The main character of the drama is Zi Ling (Zhang Jia Ni) who is a dreamer. She has always been overshadowed by her perfect older sister Lu Ping (Qin Lan) who is a dancer and owns her own dance company. For a long time, Zi Ling has been secretly been in love with Chu Lian (Bao Jian Feng), who also happens to be Lu Ping's boyfriend.

As Lu Ping is busy fulfilling her own dream of becoming a successful professional dancer, she has little time for Chu Lian. Chu Lian finds himself being attracted to Zi Ling as they spend alot of time together and chatting online. Conflict arises when Chu Lian realizes that the one he truly loves is Zi Ling. An unfortunate car accident (Lu Ping had to amputate one of her legs) forces a guilt-ridden Chu Lian to enter into an unhappy marriage with Lu Ping, but he is unable to forget Zi Ling.

Now appears my favourite character of the drama :>, Fei Yun Fan (Alex Fong) is a mysterious, wealthy, and much older man who loves Zi Ling with all his heart. Hoping to move on with her life and escape from her love for Chu Lian and guilt towards Lu Ping, Zi Ling accepted Yun Fan's marriage proposal and they moved to France. This is my favourite part of the drama as i enjoy seeing all the beautiful scenery of France and how Yun Fan's selfless love for Zi Ling gradually touches her heart. I was glad that she finally reciprocates his love and affection in the final episode.

Although i really enjoy the drama, 46 episodes was abit too much and i find myself skipping through some parts about Lu Ping and Chu Lian's married life as it was too painful to watch. With the exception of Qin Lan, who was in Princess Returning Pearl III, this is the other 3 leads' first time acting in a Qiong Yao production. I was really impressed with Qin Lan's acting as she did a really great job acting Lu Ping as it was quite creepy watching her torturing Chu Lian and plotting against everyone. Zhang Jia Ning makes her television drama debut after winning the "Finding Zi Ling" nationwide contest and i feel that she is perfect for the role of Zi Ling and i enjoy seeing her acting with Alex Fong who is one of my favourite Hong Kong actors. It has been a long time since i watched his dramas. He was so cute and suave in his role as Yun Fan and it was because of him that i watched the drama initially. I managed to find a picture book about the drama from the library today and am looking forward to reading more about the drama.
