Day 3 (15 Feb 08) Pictures of Seongsan Sunrise Peak, Tangerine and Rape Seed Flower Farm

For breakfast, we had yummy abalone porridge, bun with fried egg and several types of kimchi.

It was so nice to eat something hot during the cold weather and we proceeded to Seongsan Sunrise Peak after breakfast. It started snowing half way there and everyone was so excited. We were able to stop for awhile on the road to play with the snow.

Seongsan Sunrise peak is the most famous place for seeing the sunrise on Jeju Island and attracts a large crowd of tourists throughout the year. It is located 438m above sea level and is particularly windy. Our tour guide gave us a choice of either climbing up to the peak or just taking pictures below as the scenery was also very nice. Most of us chose to climb up and it was very cold and windy. However it was also good exercise and the magnificent view from the top was definitely worth the climb! We also saw an elderly woman who had already climbed to the peak and was on her way down. It further inspires us to push ahead.

Our tour guide also told us that Jeju is known for 3 things: roaring winds, magnificent rocks, and women, since there is a bigger population of women versus men. Jeju also has a wide variety of native foods such as the delicious Jeju tangerines and native dishes including redtile fish stew, grilled and seasoned redtile fish, rice porridge with abalone, pheasant dishes and hair-tail fish soup. We bought some chocolate with tangerine, raspberry, cactus and pineapple flavours from the shop near Seongsan Sunrise peak.

Our next stop was to embark on a fascinating submarine tour, on which we can get a spectacular view of the ocean floor (as far as 30m undersea) through the glass window. We were able to see a lot of beautiful underwater plants and pretty fishes. It was really a very interesting and eye opening experience.

Before going for lunch, we stopped by a rape seed flower farm for photo taking. We also stopped by a tangerine farm for photo taking and fruits picking. We were able to try out the delicious tangerines we picked and it tastes really sweet.

Lunch for the day was BBQ Pork with Kimchi and rice. Again we can top up all the ingredients if it is not enough. We can also choose to use lettuce wrap with meat or just eat with rice.
