Besides having good sources of carotene, folic acids, potassium, magnesium, fibre, vitamin A, B, C and E,papayas are touted to promote heart health, good digestion, strong immunisation against recurrent colds and even protection against muscular degeneration. Additionally, papayas also contain unique protein-digesting enzymes known as papain and chymopapain. Studies have shown that these enzymes help lower inflammation, improve healing from burns, and are generally used to treat allergies, sports injuries and trauma.

Asides from providing numerous health benefits, papayas also aid in rejuvenating dull and lacklustre skin. When applied to the face, the enzymes and antioxidants found in this wonder fruit help to reduce appearances of fine lines while nourishing the skin with vitamin A to accelerate the formation of new skin cells. In addition, vitamin C and beta carotene found in the fruit also protects, exfoliates and promotes elasticity of the skin, giving skin a fresh and bright appearance.

Quick & Easy

Banish lip wrinkles: Take 1/4 of an extremely ripened papaya and mash it well. Apply the mush to your lips and the area surrounding it. Leave on for 10 minutes before washing it off. Alternatively, soak a cotton ball in a 1/4 cup of papaya juice and dad it on your lips.

Best for oily skin: Apply the juice of raw papaya (including skin and seeds) onto swelling pimples or acne-prone skin for a few of minutes.

Ultra hydrating

Papaya peel: removes dead skin cells and deeply moisturises the skin.

1 cup fresh pineapple
1/2 cup fresh papaya
1 tbsp honey

Puree fruit together. Add honey and mix into a smooth paste. Leave mask on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse completely.
