Sweet Talk - Susan Mallery

Best way to spend a relaxing day, nice novel checked, yummy drink checked and delicious and valued for money cake checked ;>

I started reading this book today and "Sweet Talk" is really one sweet read and i had an enjoyable evening reading the book at my nearby cafe, Coffee Bean (Sun Plaza branch) while enjoying a nice cup of iced latte and Choc-a-log cake which satisfied my craving for something sweet to go along with the theme of the book hehe... For those who likes Coffebean cakes but finds it sinful to spend too much money on cakes in this bad economy, one great tip is to buy the cakes at Coffee Bean from 7pm on weekdays as all the cakes goes for only half price!! I only paid $2.50 for my choco-a-log cake after 50% discount and it was definitely worth it!! I learnt about this promotion from my brother who loves Coffebean cakes. There is always a long queue starting from 7 pm and i'm lucky to have been early today and there was a huge selections of cakes for me to choose. I bought my favourite tiramisu cake for $3 and hubby's favourite Buster's Weekly Cheesecake for $2.90 (after discount).

Back to "Sweet Talk", it is the first book of the Bakery Sisters series written by another of my favourite writer, Susan Mallery. I borrowed the book from Yishun library and will be borrowing the next 2 books (Sweet Spot and Sweet Trouble) in the series as i really enjoys reading the story of Claire Keyes and wishes to find out what happens next to her 2 sisters. The romantic part where Claire meets Wyatt (Nicole's ex-brother-in-law) also makes the story exciting and i'm sure fellow fans of romance novels would enjoy reading it like me :>

Is there anything sweeter than a first love?

Don’t ask Claire Keyes. In book one of the series, the story focuses on Claire, the twenty-eight-year old piano prodigy, who has never had a regular boyfriend, much less a real romance. Her music career has left little room for friends or family — which is just part of the reason she’s estranged from her two sisters.

But now Nicole is sick, and Jesse is AWOL. Despite the fact that Claire can’t boil water and is a bad driver, she’s determined to play caretaker. Connecting with her sisters tops her to-do list….along with falling in love, or at least in lust, for the first time.

Ambitious? Maybe. But a girl’s gotta dream. And ruggedly sexy Wyatt is a dream come true. Although he keeps telling himself that he and Claire come from entirely different worlds, he lights up hotter than a bakery oven whenever Claire is near. If this keeps up, she just might sweet-talk him into her bed….and her life.
