Hong Kong Drama - Wasabi Mon Amour/和味濃情

Starhub Channel 55 was showing this drama (20 episodes) based on Japanese food recently and for those who missed it, you can also watch it online at http://www.mysoju.com/wasabi-mon-amour/ . I really enjoy finding out more about the different types of Japanese cuisine while watching the drama. This should be an interesting drama for fellow foodies and i watched it as one of my favourite actress Bernice Liu also stars in the drama. This drama was shown in Hong Kong in January 2008 and filming also took place in Japan.

Melt in mouth
Glow of heart
Come experience different tastes of life

The story is about Japanese cuisine chef Chung Lai-Wo (Michael Tao), who has long been in love with his childhood friend Ko Yau-Mei (Louisa So), who is always interested in pursuing a career in showbiz. To realize her dream, Wo lies to the press and refers to Mei as "a most talented chef of the time". With Wo's help, Mei has finally landed a job as the host of a food program. As Mei is completely clueless about cooking, Wo decides to do her a favor by offering to be her assistant, which irritates his mentor Ko Shau (Paul Chun), also father of Mei, beyond measure.

Through a series of events, Me gets a job at Heat Group, a television company that produces shows about food and eating. Through this job, she meets Ally (Bernice Liu), and it is obvious that they don’t hit it off as well. It turns out, Ally is Me’s younger stepsister born from another mother and Me had caused her to be bitten by a dog when they were small resulting in Ally and her mother leaving the family. Although the food program turns out to be very popular, Mei often gets picked on by Ally while at work.

Ally is angry with Shau for being bad to her mother and she means to make things difficult for Mei as revenge. In order to boost her fame and the ratings, Mei reveals to the media the private life of Wo and herself and also lied to her family members so that they would help in her tv career. Shau feels the need to give Mei a lesson and resolves to reveal the truth to the press.

After going through many things together, Me falls in love with Wo, but their relationship is destroyed due to the many lies and irresponsible things she did in the past to get what she wanted. Me is shunned by everyone she loves, and when she tries to win Wo back, another woman steps into the picture: Tam Bo Bo (Joyce Tang).... The theme song of the drama is "不可不愛" and sung by Eric Suen.
