I saw these creative "opposition election posters" on the news last night and managed to find them online to share on my blog :)

I'm Happy To See Huge Turnout At The Worker's Party's 1st Rally Last Night :)

rallywp

Thursday's WP rally, its first for this election, saw an estimated turnout of 15,000 people! I'm wishing all this will really translate into real votes for the Worker's Party! Tonight's Worker's Party rally will be at Serangoon Stadium at 7pm. Do give them your support! I was really impressed and touched with the Party Political speech given by Tony Tan from the NSP and Pritam Singh from the WP on national TV last night and can feel their passion to serve the citizens of Singapore. They have also touched on real issues which are of great concern to Singaporeans in their speeches. Do watch their videos below:

Actress’ skin care secret: Don’t fret

I found this interesting article about actress Ko Hyeong-jeong from (http://joongangdaily.joins.com/article/view.asp?aid=2935369) to share with fellow fans of this talented and beautiful actress. I always admire her for her natural acting and loves watching her dramas. She also has beautiful skin and still looks youthful at age 40 :) In this article she talks about her beauty routine and the new book she has published about her skin care know-how. If only it is translated to English, i would definitely read the book.
You don’t have to latch onto the latest skin product고현정 “로션 하나 바를 때도 내 얼굴에 예쁘다 격려해줘요”

Ko Hyeon-jeong
Actress Ko Hyeon-jeong, 40, has published a book about her skin care know-how, “Beauty Docu - Ko Hyeon-jeong’s Texture.” Ko recorded her daily life skin care secrets with photos and writing. The book’s contents are mostly about beauty but she also talks about her daily life as well. On the day of the interview with JoongAng Ilbo, Ko said she only applied skin emulsion, lotion and facial cream.

Q. Chung Yong-jin (Ko’s ex-husband), the vice chairman of Shinsegae, is getting remarried. How do you feel?

A. I’m no different from any other women. Whatever happened in the past, he is ‘someone I used to know,’ so I hope he has a happy marriage. He and I will be mentioned together for a long time and it will be good for both of us if we both live happy lives. (Ko and Jeong got married in 1995 and divorced in 2003. Jeong has custody of their two children.)

Don’t you miss your children? In the book, there are some parts related to your kids.

I hope they are doing great.

*In the book, Ko talks about her horoscope sign, Pisces. She wrote, “the shape of Pisces is like the linkage between the parents and the children,” and continued, “Parents and children are connected with eternal strings even without the umbilical cords and even when they can’t see each other.”

Why did you publish this book?

I have been doing commercial advertisements for cosmetic brands ever since my debut. Last year, Ko Hyeon-jeong face-wash was the talk of the town. I think a lot of people trust when I am involved in skin care. So I felt some sort of responsibility. So this time, I thought I had to talk about my original story, not the advertising copy lines.”

People say you are somewhat of a drinker. Aren’t skin care and alcohol the opposites?

I think drinks with good people are good for your skin. You might have a puffy face the next morning but when you think about the good memories last night, you smile. Smiling is a good facial stretching and it gives you good skin complexion.

What is the first rule of skin care?

Don’t compare with other people and love your skin. You don’t have to latch onto the latest skin products. You don’t have to wear thick makeup every day. Listen to what your skin is saying and it will give you answers.

You wrote in your book, “Truth is, I really don’t do anything for skin care.”

I do try to have fair skin. But it is not special skin care. I don’t do things that might harm my skin to look more beautiful to other people. I just leave my skin as it is. I thought about why my skin is so good. People say a healthy womb gives healthy skin complexion. What I am saying is that rather than doing something for the skin itself, you should care about the overall health of your body more.

What do you do usually when you don’t have a shoot?

What you see on television screens is made by the best makeup artists, stylists and light ing technicians. In fact, I am a lazy woman who likes to slob at home. I don’t like to care about other people’s eyes. I don’t even have a computer at home. I get all my information from five different newspapers I subscribe to. I like paper newspapers, I can flip the pages one by one.

Do you have any particular articles of interest?

I always start the papers from the back with the opinion sections and I always read the daily horoscopes most carefully. I sometimes cut out the horoscope and carry it around.

I heard your photography is excellent.

At one time, I really couldn’t do anything so I had to learn something. So I started photography. I took pictures of my children. I don’t take sceneries. I usually take pictures of people so I can remember them. It is so sad when I want to remember people but can’t remember their faces.

I Love Swimming :)

I mentioned last week that i'm going to make an effort to exercise so that i can have a healthy and active lifestyle and will be swimming once a week. I managed to accomplish my exercise goal this week ;) I went jogging on Monday and  swimming yesterday and it was so nice and relaxing as the weather was really bright and sunny. I decided to reward myself with a delicious lunch at Astons after swimming and my favorite durian cake from Dino Cafe hehe :)

Looking Forward To Voting Day & Going To The Election Rallies :)

Today is nomination day and voting day will be on 7 May 2011. This will be an interesting and exciting election as 82 out of 87 Parliamentary seats will be contested. Worker's Party Mr Low Thia Khiang will also be leaving his Hougang Single Seat ward and contesting in the 5 members Aljunied GRC together with Sylvia Lim, 45, corporate lawyer Chen Show Mao, 50, Mr Pritam Singh, 34, a postgraduate law student, and Mr Muhamad Faisal Manap, 35, a freelance counseller. Mr Low, 54, was the four-term MP for Hougang, which he won in 1991.

This is really a dream opposition team and i have always feel that Worker's Party is the best among the opposition and it is a pity they are not contesting in Sembawang GRC where i live in as i would definitely give them my support! I appreciate what the ruling PAP government has done the past years for our country and deeply respect MM Lee for transforming Singapore into a wonderful place to live and work in. However i still feel that there is a need for opposition in Parliament to scrutinized policies and provide an alternative voice for citizens. It is also not easy contesting as an opposition as they do not have as much resources as the ruling party and i wish that PAP will be fair and not always use upgrading of estates as carrot to get voters to vote for them as these are taxpayer's money and opposition wards Hougang and Potong Pasir should also get the funding for upgrading irregardless of the election results. This is what we Singapore citizens want!

Hopefully the residents in Aljunied GRC would give Mr Low's team a chance as he has earned my respect and support for being willing to step out of Hougang and contest a GRC. WP party candidate Yaw Shin Leong will take Mr Low's place in Hougang. Mr Yaw, 34, owner of an enrichment programme developing who stood in the 2006 elections, will square off PAP's Desmond Choo. It will be a sad day for Singapore if no opposition is elected to Parliament and i hope the Hougang residents will transfer their support for Mr Low to Mr Yaw as i have seen him on TV and he seems to be a good candidate and has 10 years experience with the Hougang Town Council. I'm sure he will be able to serve the Hougang residents well. The first Worker's Party rally will be held on Thursday 28 April 2011, 7.30-10.30pm at the field besides Block 837, Hougang Central, Singapore 530837 and i will be going with my cousin :)

Actor Jo Hyun-jae is contributing a track to the soundtrack for his current drama, 49 Days, following fellow castmate Jung Il-woo, who previously recorded a track. Lovely Sakura Blooms :)

I read from Straits Times Online that SIA has slashed its all-inclusive economy airfare to Japan to $398, from a peak of $1,380, say travel agents.

This offer is good for travel to Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka and Nagoya from now until the end of next month. There are conditions attached though: The discount applies only for 'two-to-go' deals, meaning there must be at least two people travelling together; the other catch is that the tickets must be issued by May 6.

Groupon was also selling Tokyo travel packages from H.I.S travel agency yesterday for 3 days 2 nights and 4 days 3 nights flying by SIA and selling at great discount of $398 and $448!!! It has been all sold out when i checked the website this morning and i was so tempted to go too but too bad i could not find anyone to go with me as you need 2 to go. I also wanna see the lovely Sakura blooms now in Tokyo and guess i will have to satisfy myself with looking at its lovely pictures instead ;)

Lancome UV Expert BB Base SPF 50/PA+++ Available In Exclusive 50ml Jumbo Size

I first wrote about Lancome's BB Base last year and have been using it whenever i go out as it is so convenient and i just need to apply it after my moisturizer and add some lip gloss and i can go out in a jiffy ;) it is also great for those who prefers light makeup. I just saw this promotion on Lancome's Facebook page and would have bought the limited edition 50ml BB Base at Metro during the weekends if i had known earlier as i could have gotten it at 20% discount (in the form of rebate vouchers)! I have been using Lancome's BB Base since it was introduced last year and is almost finishing my second tube. I love that it has high SPF which gives me sufficient protection from the harmful UV rays and that it helps to conceals imperfections and is non oily with its ultra-light texture. Lancome's BB Base has also won the Herworld Beauty Awards 2011, Reader's Choice for BB Cream. It was also recommended by Kevin, the beauty guru in the popular Taiwanese beauty talkshow 女人我最大 and he even did an experiment on how effective the BB Base is!

Start To An Active & Healthier Lifestyle ;)

2739239029_73e6ba29c3

I love swimming but has stopped going for a long time out of laziness and because i could not find anyone to go with me. Most of my friends do not like swimming and I had a friend who used to go with me but she is afraid of getting more dark spots/freckles if she is always out in the sun. There is also no swimming pool in Sembawang and i will have to travel to Yishun if i wish to swim at Yishun Safra and the unpredictable weather further deter me from going as sometimes it starts to rain once i reach Yishun and i would have made a wasted trip. However i decided that i have to stop finding excuses for myself and should make an effort to go on my own so that i would not feel so sinful whenever i eat my favorite food if i exercise regularly. I'm definitely going to go swimming at least once a week and now i can check the weather for the next day using my Iphone application "Weather Lah" which is really useful and so far quite accurate. I bought a new Speedo swimsuit and goggles so as to motivate myself and have gone for a swim yesterday and hopefully i will be able to go weekly! It feels great and relaxing swimming and i have almost forgotten that nice feeling :)

Singapore Parliament has been dissolved

PRESIDENT S. R. Nathan has dissolved Singapore's 11th Parliament. That means a General Election has to be held within three months.

The next step is for the Writ of Election to be issued setting out Nomination Day, along with the announcement of Polling Day.

In all, 2,311,582 Singaporeans are eligible to vote at the coming general election, up from 2,158,439 in the 2006 round, and 2,036,923 in 2001.

More than one in four voters will be aged 21 to 34. Of these, some 200,000 are first-time voters.

The law states that Nomination Day - when candidates head to nomination centres to present their papers - must take place at least five working days (Saturdays included) or the maximum of one month after the writ is issued.

Candidates can only start their election campaigns after nominations close and right up to two days before polling day. The campaign period must last at least nine days.

In the last General Election, 47 seats were contested, making it the most-pitched battle since 1988. This time round, the number of seats contested is expected to come close to that fought in 1988, when 86 per cent of seats were contested.

There are 87 seats in 27 constituencies - 12 single- member cies and 15 Group Representation Constituencies (GRCs) - to be contested this time round.

LadyJan: So excited that election will be coming as i have been eagerly following all the news about the new candidates from the ruling PAP and the oppositions and will definitely attend some of the election rallies before i decide on how to cast my vote :)
