Delicious Lunch @ Menya Musashi Raffles City After Visiting Singapore Garden Festival :)

I went to the Singapore Garden Festival at Suntec Convention Centre yesterday with my mum and we had a fun time admiring the beautiful flowers and taking lot of lovely pictures. We also bought some lovely plants back at a great price ;) Will share more pictures soon after i have downloaded and organize them :) The Garden Festival will be ending this weekend and do make a trip there with your family. I saw alot of schoolkids there with their teachers and they seem to be really enjoying themselves.

We spent several hours at the Garden Festival and decided to have a late lunch at Menya Musashi at Raffles City before going home. I have been wanting to visit this popular Japanese ramen place which opened in April 2012 and have been seeing long queues and garnering great reviews from diners. Set up in the mid-1990s in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Menya Musashi (which means Musashi ramen shop), has about 10 outlets in Tokyo today. It has garnered high ratings and rave reviews in the media in Japan. According to Ramen Walker, my favorite ramen blog - Menya Musashi is one of the legendary ramen brand in Japan. Its owner, Yamada Takeshi, together with Ippudo's Kawahara Shigemi and Nanttsutei's Furuya Ichiro are said to be icons of the ramen industry that led to its popularity now.

Immensely popular in Tokyo, Menya Musashi has brought updated ramen with thicker soups to the Singapore outlet. We reached the restaurant around 3pm+ to avoid the lunch crowd and long queue and business was still really good.

I love eating ramen and have been wanting to try Menya Musashi's signature dish, the dry noodles (Tsukemen) which are dipped in a richer soup-sauce which is an interesting way of eating ramen to me. I love eating ramen and drinking its delicious soup and was not sure if Tsukemen would suit my tastebud but my mum and i love the taste of the ramen after dipping it into its really delicious and rich soup-sauce! There are three types of soup-sauce for both the dry and wet versions - white (original), red (chili oil and bean sauce) and black (fried garilc & onion). We both ordered the White Tsukemen and its soup-sauce was made with a thick and richer broth of pork and chicken with powdered dry fish like bonito and taste really rich, sweet and salty and is perfect for dipping the ramen. However i would not encourage you to drink too much of the soup-sauce as it is richer than the soup version Ramen and is more meant as a dip. For those who loves drinking soup, guess it would be better for you to order the soup version Ramen. We also love the chashu which was well marinated and really tasty. The meaty part tastes tender and soft.

I also love that you can order free noodle upsize up to 5X the regular serving which is unique to Menya Musashi. Additional soup is, however, chargeable. This is great news for big eaters and ramen lovers like me and i ended up ordering double portions of noodle and was really full after my meal but real satisfied hehe :) I love the noodles which was thick, chewy and soft and cooked the way i like. We also ordered a serving of Gyoza and it was really tasty although my top favorite is still the gyoza from Nantsuttei at Parco Marina Bay. Overall it was an enjoyable and delicious meal and i'm already planning to go back again with hubby soon to try out the black version soup-sauce :)
